Just Above Drowning
Do you find as a teacher or just as person you take on a lot more than you expected? I have a very busy two weeks, and you know what I did it to myself. I am beginning to think that saying "no" is almost impossible for me to do! I think I like stress and maybe that's why-I always seem to take on way too much at a time. Or maybe it is that I like the feeling that I am drowning, then the rush of coming up for air? Maybe I will figure it out someday. But, right now I don't have the time.

I understand the feeling of taking on too much. That is how I have felt the last five months with my new job and the regular life occurances.
ReplyDeleteLacy, I think the sign of a good teacher is the inability to say no! Think about it, we want to make a difference, we are problem solvers, and we feel the need to help everyone! I have a hard time saying no, too, and sometimes the stress is crushing -- but I love it!
ReplyDeleteI find that I work best when I'm piled with things to do. Believe it or not, I've actually been known to add to my plate intentionally, because I know something needs done and I won't do it until I've committed to a completion date. I will say, I have learned to say "no". It was hard, but once said...it becomes easier.
